I am excited that you are reading this article and I hope that you can take something away for your life, a friend, or one of your own children!
I realize that many of us have built what seems to be great framework around this idea of dating.
The problem is that we are building the framework and when people build stuff there will always be mistakes.
What I hope to do in this article is to show you the already designed framework that God has built for us, because I think we can all agree that God wants what’s best for us because He made us in HIS own image!
God’s Word Vs. Culture
1. Dating is not my design Vs. Culture has changed, this is the way God wants it because it seems to work (Genesis 2:22-24)
2. I designed two hearts to become one Vs. Be with as many hearts as you want (Matthew 19:4-6)
3. Love is a choice not a feeling Vs. Need to date before you can experience love. (John 3:16)
4. Your emotions will lead you astray Vs.“follow the feeling of peace” (Jeremiah 17:9)
5. Physical touch clouds judgement Vs. You get to know someone through physical touch (1 Corinthians 7:1-4)
Now, if you have been where I was many years back you would fall into the culture category. It’s those people who make intimate relationships outside of marriage sound so innocent and right.
The words they say make others feel okay with breaking the very heart of God.
This cultural mindset about dating and physical touch before marriage is killing our society from the very fabric that it exists! When are we going to take a stand and hold ourselves accountable to the holy standard of God?
If we claim to be a Jesus follower, and yet continue to live with another person outside of marriage and/or have sex; what does that really say about our relationship with Jesus?
I know some will not agree with me, but that’s okay because I used to be in that place and I know God has something so much better than what the world says!
Jesus Christ paid the debt we owe! So if you are reading this and you find yourself believing what the world says instead of what God says all you have to do is confess your wrongs and run towards God.
1 John 1:9 (If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.)
It really is that simple! You see so many in this world are headed straight for eternity without God. The only way to our Father in heaven is through His son Jesus Christ my friends.
I am not saying that if you live with a boyfriend/girlfriend you will not go to heaven. I am saying that there is only one way to heaven, and to experience God’s peace in your life.
That way is through Jesus Christ and Him alone! He will take your insecurity and make you feel secure in Him. He will take your hopelessness and make you want to tell others of the hope you found in Him!
All you have to do is confess that you are a sinner, entrust Him with every fabric of your existence, and God will change you with His Holy Spirit.
You can say this prayer if you are that person ready to give your everything to Jesus right now. Remember, It isn’t the prayer that saves you but your heart to God.
Romans 10:9-10 (If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.)
God, I know I have been living against your will. I confess to every wrong in my life that I made against you. Please forgive me.
I believe that Jesus came from heaven, lived a sinless life, died a death I deserve, and rose from the dead on the third day so that I could be forgiven. Lord, guide me, protect me, and teach me by your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ great name I pray, Amen.
If you made a decision to trust in Jesus for the first time or you made a decision to change so that your life can reflect Jesus please let me know I want to rejoice with you!
