How are we supposed to know if it is God speaking to us? I know you may be thinking it is impossible to know for sure; however, I want to challenge that thought.
I challenge it only because I have found myself in that same line of thinking hundreds of times.
First, I want to make something clear.
(1) God’s Word is authoritative and approved
I believe in the authority of God’s Word.
We live in a culture where popular communicators rely heavily on their way with words and not enough on the
I know I hold no power in this area. To be honest, I really don’t know why so many read these blogs each week. I am in awe every time I look at the stats.
It has to be God’s Word that holds power. I barely graduated high-school and never really understood grammatical etiquette.
(2) The voice of God is in the words
What does God’s voice have to do with God’s Word?
Keeping our noses in Scripture will produce ears to hear the still small voice of our mighty God.
Oh God, please change our minds and hearts as believers to wholeheartedly trust your precious Word. Let us see you as holy, mighty, wonderful, loving, and faithful.
(3) When to move or not
How do we know if God is telling us to move, speak, not speak, get into a relationship, or get out of a relationship, etc.?
Isaiah 30:21: “and whenever you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear this command behind you: “This is the way. Walk in it.”
What a promise. Wherever we choose to walk, God will guide us in the right direction. Are you listening?
Don’t be afraid to take action. I have found that is when I see the direction even clearer.
Isaiah 58:11: “The Lord will always lead you,
satisfy you in a parched land,
and strengthen your bones.
You will be like a watered garden
and like a spring whose water never runs dry.”
Did you catch that!?
Our Lord will always lead us.
What a relief.
(4) Your direction is set
Friend, be free today. Understand the sovereignty of God’s direction for your life.
Trust in Him and not in your emotional desires. Base every emotion you have on God’s Word.
Isaiah 46:10: “I declare the end from the beginning,
and from long ago what is not yet done,
saying: my plan will take place,
and I will do all my will.”
God loves you enough to have already made a great and awesome plan for your life. Will you accept this?
(5) Get rid of shame and doubt
Planting ourselves in the promises of God will eliminate shame and doubt.
I have found that it is hard to doubt when I am grateful.
I am grateful for the outpouring of God’s grace and mercy over my life. Are you grateful for that today?
Maybe you need that grace and mercy.
Have you asked Jesus into your heart?
Do you feel stuck and hopeless?
If this is you, open up your Bible now and gloat over the goodness of God and how intensely He loves you my friend.
Oh how He wants so badly to be close to you, guiding you in His direction. The true way to freedom is the giving up of ourselves to bond service unto our gracious king and friend, Jesus.
